Position: Packaging Associates
Location: Lenox, Ia
Pay: $16.50 to $17.50
Elite Staffing Inc. is currently hiring for 1st and 2nd Shift Packaging Laborers in Lenox, Iowa. The purpose of the packer is to pack finished high quality frozen food product in cases according to customer specifications. The packer fills product and prepares them for freezing; monitors and picks off defective product that do not meet customer specifications. Customers and the public benefit from the work packers do by the high-quality safe product they package.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Sort and pack frozen food products according to customer specifications while keeping pace with machinery and the conveyor system.
2. Read scales and check case weights according to customer specifications.
3. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. safely.
4. Work in teams ensuring that the conveyor system does not back up and become jammed with product.
5. Rotate to different positions during shift.
6. Determine if product meets proper specifications or not and take corrective action as needed.
7. Assist in the general good housekeeping of the area.
8. Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
9. Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and withstand constant motion.
2. The ability to repeatedly lift and carry 30 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs. safely.
3. The ability to work indoors, on hard surfaces, in changing temperatures.
4. Ability to travel stairs.
5. Basic math skills.
6. Basic verbal skills.
7. Ability to work in a team environment.
8. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Safety regulations and wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as required.
