QA Technician
Quality Technician I is responsible for executing the Quality Management system as defined in specific Standard Operating Procedures, Forms, and Verifications. Enforcing food safety and GMP compliance within the site. Ensuring all regulatory, customer, and company specifications and requirements are being met during production. Coaching, teaching, and mentoring Operations associates in all things food safety and quality. Working with the QA team and other department personnel to meet requirements, assignments, and responsibilities.
Job Duties:
- Monitor daily operations as assigned to ensure compliance to established procedures, customer specifications, and/or production order instructions
- Perform incoming goods, in process, and finished product inspections/ testing per approved procedures
- Identify and report unusual food safety and/or quality conditions to supervision for correction
- Initiate Incident Reports for non-conforming goods and other defined Incident Report triggers
- Assist Operations leads and Machine Operators as necessary to perform in-process checks, comply with production order instructions, and implement corrective actions for process trends and/or non-compliance
- Perform and/or verify equipment calibration per established procedures and frequencies as directed
- Ensure adherence to company employee safety, food safety, and GMP policies
- Determine and implement appropriate corrective actions for routine instances of non-compliance or out of specification incidents without immediate Supervision Perform
- CCP/PC verifications as required
- Place product on hold in accordance with local hold procedures including proper hold placards
- Pull shelf life or retain items per schedule
- Participate in sensory and other product reviews as required
- Complete label verifications
- Perform Pre-Operational inspections if required at local site
- Complete job specific training as required by training matrix or learning plan
- May be required to work weekends
- Perform other duties as assigned by site QA Leadership
Required Competencies & Knowledge:
Knowledge of:
- QA Technician role and responsibilities
- Maintaining and controlling of any CCPs/PCs that relate to their lines.
- SAP QA transactions
- Customer specs and expectations
Skill in:
- Must be accurate and detail-oriented
- Communicate effectively with employees and management
- Collaborative work with other departments to achieve company goals
Ability to:
- Communicate in English to give and acknowledge instructions/problems
- Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week
- Learn analytical equipment testing procedures and at time train others
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Write fact-based investigation reports
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and/or schedule form
- Work in a fast-paced environment with good time management
Proficiency in:
- MS Office Suite and some SAP
Work Environment:
- Multi-shift, noisy, and at times dusty
- May climb steps or cat walks dependent on site
- May have to work in hot, humid, wet, or cold conditions depending on type of production operation
- May have long periods of sitting for reporting and data
Physical Requirements:
- Reaching with hands/arms throughout the day.
- Ability to use hands and fingers. Ability to see, hear and talk.
- Ability to work in light to moderate noise levels.
- May be required to walk up to 400 yards to work and break areas
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent (QAM approval otherwise)
Ability to communicate in English both oral and written
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in various units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Previous QA experience is required
Previous Experience in Food manufacturing industry preferred
1st shift- 4:00 AM – 3:00PM (But it changes a little depending on the room they are working on)
6 Day work week
Will be working in cold environment
$17-20 Based on experience
