Quality Assurance Technician Bilingual Preferred

The Quality Assurance Technician primary duty is to ensure the products and services meet the requirements of company, industry, government standards and principles set forth.  The role examines products, inspects equipment, records process checks, discusses issues encountered and provides communication with provided evidence.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•    Monitor ingredients, packaging materials, product, labels, etc. for accurate ingredient statements, code dates, USDA compliance, etc. 
•    Ensure all products are consistently processed under company and customer specifications
•    Monitor and document critical process control points or other key points of processing as specified per SSOPs and SOPs: 
•    Collect and prepare samples such as product, environmental sponges for microbiological testing, water, and air 
•    Collect and manage the retention samples for all products produced within site
•    Lead and perform monthly facility inspections 
•    Monitor and verify the effectiveness of the sanitation process, including during pre-operational and operational sanitation
•    Observe employees and/or visitors and enforce proper GMP practices, when necessary
•    Accountable for the Hold and Release program, the timely release of products, and the verification of dispositions, as required
•    Monitor and ensure the proper storage of ingredients, packaging materials, product, etc. within the site
•    Work towards continuous improvement of plant operations, food safety and quality of the production, etc. 
•    Assist in training of site employees as necessary with site management and QA Manager
•    Work with site management when an occurrence happens and ensure proper corrective and/or preventative actions are taken
•    Follow all safety and food safety requirements in OSHA, SQF, GMPs and HACCP
•    Perform and assist with additional duties as assigned by QA Management
•    Ensure all forms, records and other documentation that proves the integrity and safety of all products are completed and verified at the time of inspection or record creation.

REQUIREMENTS:
•    Ability to visually inspect products, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or government regulations and customer requirements. 
•    Ability to read production schedules, safety signs, digital scales, product labels, etc.
•    Ability to convey results or checks that have been assigned. 
•    Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and other department employees. Spanish/bilingual communication a plus.
•    Ability to apply basic concepts of mathematical skill to practical situations. Ability to estimate measure and account for poundage and product measures.
•    Ability to solve simple practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
•    Ability to communicate verbal and in writing to individuals and groups of staff and management as well as outside consultants.
•    Ability to perform or have knowledge of software pertaining to Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.



REQUIRED/PERFERRED EXPERIENCE
•    High School Diploma or GED equivalent
•    1-2 years’ experience in food processing industry, preferably meat processing
•    Knowledge/Compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices- English
•    Preferred Education/Experience:
o    Bilingual in English and Spanish; ability to communicate 
o    Background in food safety, quality, and USDA processing
