Facility Mechanic

Essential duties:

• Assist the site Maintenance Manager, CI Technician and/or Engineer to develop ideas for improving line uptime, reduce crewing and/or increase line speed.
• Fabricate or oversee the fabrication of parts.
• Maintain equipment in safe operating condition.
• Maintain the building structure as well as its utilities.
• Welding for equipment repair or fabrication.
• Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on mixers, motors, gearboxes, pumps, boilers, air compressors, cooling towers and chillers.
• Perform minor electrical installation and control work
• Communicate information with other team members and supervisors daily.
• Repair equipment breakdowns using diagnosis and troubleshooting techniques with the aid of equipment manuals and blueprints.
• Initiate changes and modifications to equipment for safety, ease of operation, and efficiency.
• Inform the MRO clerk of recommendations for appropriate spare parts.
• Comply with the company safety rules, and standard operating procedures and follow GMP guidelines.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the Department Manager.

Requirements include:

Ability to work independently with good knowledge of process equipment, including tanks, mixers, pumps, motor controls, electrical systems, boilers, air compressors, heating and cooling systems, and pneumatic systems.

Required Skills:

• Basic mechanical fabrication
• Welding skills an asset
• Pneumatics
• Electrical and Control logic understanding and trouble shooting.
• Solid mechanical problem solving abilities
• Flexibility to work special schedules as required satisfying job requirements
• Good attendance
• Demonstrated teamwork.
• Good English communication skills

$29.00-32.00/hr DOE
