Shipping Clerk/ Shipping Coordinator
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, packaging, and coordinating outbound shipments in a high-volume, 24-hour manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate documentation, timely dispatching, and compliance with all company and regulatory shipping requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced setting with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process shipping documents such as bills of lading, packing slips, shipping labels, and customs forms.
- Coordinate with carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, LTL, freight) to schedule pickups and ensure timely deliveries.
- Accurately pick, pack, label, and stage outbound shipments according to work orders and customer specifications.
- Verify outbound shipments against orders and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate shipping records in ERP or WMS systems.
- Communicate with production, inventory, and customer service teams to ensure shipping deadlines are met.
- Perform quality checks on packaged goods to prevent damage during transit.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and effectively (certification may be required).
- Ensure shipping area is clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Support continuous improvement efforts in shipping procedures and inventory accuracy.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of shipping/logistics or related warehouse experience (manufacturing environment preferred).
- Familiarity with shipping systems and software (e.g., UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, ERP/WMS).
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, data entry).
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, shipping instructions, and safety rules.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain.
$20.00-23.00/hr DOE
