Job Description

Batch Maker

The role of the Batch Maker is to prepare gelatin, crème, pudding, caramel, or flan to their assigned line in a timely manner as to not shut down the line due to a late batch delivery. It is their responsibility to ensure that Quality standards are met daily.  They are participating in the implementation of productivity improvements, reduce cost and scrap rate, minimize equipment downtime, ensure worker’s safety and food safety requirements are maintained. The Line Formulator reports to and collaborates with Assistant Production Supervisor and with the Production Supervisor in all duties below: The candidate must be able to make challenging decisions to support organizational initiatives.



  • Oversees the daily activities required to process the current production jobs.
  • Must obey SOP’s and cannot start a batch without the batch sheets being delivered by QA Tech.
  • Must fill out the formula sheets only when batch is made and not in advance
  • Must fill out CCP document with accurate information
  • A sample of each batch must be left in the QA table, it is the Formulator responsibility to measure the pH level before presenting the product to the line. If the pH is non-conformant formulator must advise the Supervisor or the QA Technician
  • For Sugar Free products, the formulator must taste a small sample of the batch to confirm that contains the artificial sweetener.
  • Measure and add ingredients into the batch as specified.
  • Record all ingredients that have been added on the batch sheet immediately after they have been added to the batch.
  • Mix the batch well blending all ingredients together.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • The production Supervisor is required to work in an environment that is wet, very humid, and undergoes extreme temperature changes, from very hot to room temperature
  • Noise
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the day
  • Standing or walking through the entire day
  • Bending and stooping
  • Pushing and pulling pallet jacks.
