Painter Helper

Job Summary

Painter/helper is responsible for material prep (sanding, masking, setup) supply inventory, organization and clean up. The Painter/helper position will be responsible for receiving, preparing and delivering materials to be painted to the paint booth, finishing painted goods and delivering to the next department location. Professional sign shop.

Responsibilities

Check incoming materials with the work order to ensure the material, quantity and product dimensions are correct.

Prepare surfaces for painting: Fill cracks, holes and imperfections, sand by hand and pneumatic sander.

Prepare products for painting: Inspect, clean, arrange, lay out product and deliver to paint booth. (taping, masking, pinning, and setting up)

Apply paint and primer with brush or roller to provide finishes as required.

Finish products after painted: Remove tape and masking, touch-up imperfections, install mounting hardware if applicable and deliver to next department upon inspection.

Products used: Water and solvent-based primer, paint, stain, varnish, clear coat and or other finishes to custom cut lettering, fabricated structures and hardware made of wood, steel, aluminum, Plexiglas, plywood, MDF, sign foam, sintra and similar materials.

Adhere to production schedule and review work orders to ensure paint and materials are available or on order.

Submit supplies orders

Care for paint department tool assets, paint and supply inventory insuring proper organization, cleaning and maintenance of paint storage, mixing area, paint booth and workspaces.

Ability to work on multiple projects and deadlines

Ability to work at a controlled pace under pressure

Self-motivated and able to work independently and in teams

Comply with all personnel, departmental and safety policies

Read and understand work orders, tech drawings, cut sheets and written instructions

Other duties as assigned by team lead and/or Supervisor

Required Skills & Experience

Detail oriented, good hand-eye coordination and a mind for organization is paramount.

Familiarity with the tools, equipment, materials, and application techniques common to the painting trade.

Physical Demands: Must be able to kneel, bend, sit, stand, walk for long periods of time.

Communication and Language Skills: Must write and speak English clearly. Spanish speaking a plus

9AM-5PM: Monday- Friday OT Available (Includes Weekend Work)
