Shipping & Receiving Supervisor


2nd shift

Bolingbrook, IL 60440

Position Summary 
Supervises workers who confirm and record the receipt of shipments, prepare items for shipping, and load and unload trucks. Also responsible for managing the inter-departmental transport of materials. A level II supervisor has authority for personnel actions and oversees most day to day operations of group. 

The following duties are normal for this position. The Incumbent may perform some or all of these duties however; It Is not an exclusive or all­ inclusive list.  

• Prepare all shipping and receiving documents in a timely and accurate manner 
• Working supervisor that assists in shipping, loading trucks, checking materials or product, and matches ASN and BOM 
• Must be able to follow GMP's as identified in the corporate quality documentation 
• Read and verify customer manifest, work order, shipping &/or receiving orders or requisition to determine items to be moved gathered or shipped 
• Coordinate dock traffic, ensures that all trucks must sign in and out of facility 
• Record amounts of materials or items distributed via appropriate computer programs 
• Input data into shipping schedule 
• Confer with managers inside and outside the distribution center to ensure coordination of other functions such as production, inventory management and quality assurance 

Education & Experience 
• Bachelor's degree preferred 
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience required 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 
• Knowledge of and ability to use and influence organization's policies, standards and procedures guiding manufacturing processes 
• Knowledge of strategies and tools for controlling and optimizing the factors that lie between the purchase of raw materials 
and delivery of finished products 
• Ability to effectively manage the business relationship and transactions with the suppliers of raw materials or product components 
• Knowledge of issues and considerations for effectively managing local or distributed inventories of raw materials, work in 
progress and finished goods 
• Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials throughout the manufacturing cycle 
• Knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility 

Physical Requirements & Work Environment 
• Primarily works in an office environment with occasional time spent in a production and/or warehouse setting 
• Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. 
• Frequent standing/walking required
