Job Description

STAFF ACCOUNTANT

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Bank Reconciliation/ Banking

Bank reconciliation preparation o Obtain bank activity detail for 7 bank accounts from Bank website and  reflect activity within the individual bank reconciliation as well as the appropriate journal entry ? Appropriately apply translation rate for Account transactions

Running outstanding check report to appropriately reflect the cash movement

Prepare the International Concentration bank reconciliation which encompasses several bank accounts sweeping transactions for the month

   Creating journal entries for all wire transfers and intercompany invoices paid throughout the month

   Prepare journal entries for payroll, payroll taxes, medical accounts

   Obtain and track weekly medical accounts’ claims listings

      Contacting department personnel to obtain detailed information to record transaction

   Tracking returned ACH in the bank and following up accordingly

      Print all statements and cash management reports at month-end

Intercompany Accounts Receivable

                • Account for intercompany invoices to all subsidiaries monthly: o Generate invoices to each subsidiary prior to month end

                o Scan all invoices and supporting documentation and email to subsidiaries

                • Create spreadsheet to summarize amount of funding to be pulled from any of the U.S. cash pool companies and send spreadsheet to Treasury Department monthly

                • Ensure intercompany accounts offset with subsidiaries during month end close by notifying the entities of intercompany balances from the last check run  

•               • Oversee intercompany balancing in consolidation system and resolve any imbalances with subsidiaries

•               • Track annual intercompany chargebacks to ensure appropriate levels are recorded throughout the year for offsetting

Month-End Close/ Reporting • Prepare and post various non-operating company journal entries at each month-end

                • Load Non-Operating entities monthly data into HFM Consolidation system to report results

                • Maintain general ledger account reconciliations for every key balance sheet account

                • Tie out balances to general ledger monthly

                • Perform HFM to general ledger tie-out monthly for all Corporate Non-Operating entities (24 non-operating entities)

                • Perform journal entry completeness control ensuring all entries were recorded as documented

                • Maintain appropriate detailed transactions within the audit book of the invoice activity

                • Rolling over the workpapers to the next month to ensure up to date records

Administrative Work • Filing, Copying and Scanning,

                • Creating tabs and labels

                • Shredding

Additional Responsibilities Role Can be Exposed to:

•    5. Petty Cash • Maintain petty cash and reconcile at month-end o Issuance and receipt of money from company personnel

•    o Count petty cash at month end and replenish

•    o Maintain the support for cash transactions

•    o Journalize money movement at month end

•     

Accounts Payable • Responsible for gathering, coding, and processing all invoices and expense reports for payment into the Microsoft Dynamics SL ERP system, ensuring proper approval by management prior to processing

                • Account for Employee Expenses Reports

                • Updating sub-account ledger for new employees to allocate expenses to the appropriate department

                • Upon completion of payment processing, update the balance sheet account work papers with the appropriate detailed within the audit book of the invoice activity

                • Processing and manually tracking International and Intercompany invoices paid through wire transfer and ACH to ensure no duplicate payment have been made

                • Oversee vendor master file additions and edits, including compliance with identifying applicable government withholdings

                • Ensuring updated W-9 or W-8 in on file prior to payment

                • Oversee outstanding vendor payment checks and contacting vendors to resolve

                • Prepare and report 1099’s annually to the IRS

                • Track all wire transfers indicating the payments that are subject to 1099 reporting

                • Prepare Sales and Use tax on a monthly basis

Credit Card Program (Purchasing Cards) • Access online account and manage statements monthly

                • Help vendors who signed up for the program retrieve payments as needed

                • Create summarized spreadsheet of Wells Fargo travel charges to send for approvals by the appropriate manager/VP

                • Reconcile all cleared credit card payments

                • Journalize transactions occurring on the current month’s statement

Fixed Assets/ CIP • Account for fixed asset related invoices monthly:

Enter fixed asset invoices into subledger (Sage Premier Depreciation)

•       o Depreciate all assets within Sage

•       o Complete journal entry to account for accumulated depreciation and depreciation expense monthly

•        

•               • Account for Construction in Process related invoices monthly by entering into a tracking spreadsheet

Work with Senior Accountant – Corporate Finance to perform finance analytics • Analytics may be required monthly, quarterly, and yearly on the financial results for RPM International

                • Special requests to be assigned as they are identified by management

Assist with Consolidated Cash Review at each quarter-end • Along with Senior Accountant – Corporate Finance scope the entities each quarter across RPM to be reviewed

                • Obtain and review bank reconciliations from each of the in-scope entities for completeness and accuracy

                • Obtain and review supporting detail of reconciling items

Assist Senior Accountant – Corporate Finance in preparing and posting budgets in local G/L and consolidation system (HFM) • Assist with Finance Department planning, including planned interest expense during January timeframe

                • Assist in loading budgets to local G/L and HFM during January timeframe for P&L’s and July timeframe for balance sheets

 

Desired Skills:

•               • Degree in Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent qualifying experience.

•               • Proficient in Word and Excel

•               • Strong written and oral communication skills

•               • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work within a deadline

•               • Strict attention to detail with strong organizational skills

•               • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors and various levels of management.

•               Sage experience

•               Advanced MS Excel experience

$26.00-36.00/hr DOE
