Plant Engineer
Plant Engineer – Printing Industry
Job Duties:
- Preform the maintenance, repair of printing presses (e.g., web offset, sheetfed, digital) and finishing equipment (bindery, folders, stitchers, etc.).
- Lead plant-wide engineering and maintenance initiatives including equipment upgrades, process improvements, and capital projects.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues affecting press operations.
- Work closely with press crews, maintenance technicians, and production staff to support up time and job quality.
- Develop and maintain a preventive and predictive maintenance program for all production and support equipment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and industry safety standards; support audits and inspections.
- Monitor energy usage, air systems, and HVAC to ensure efficient plant utilities performance.
- Maintain detailed documentation for press and facility equipment, including service logs, schematics, and manuals.
- Manage vendor relationships for parts, service, and contract maintenance.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Background and education in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering preferred; equivalent technical experience considered.
- 3–7 years of plant or maintenance engineering experience in the printing or manufacturing industry required.
- Direct experience with heatset web, sheetfed offset and digital printing equipment is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Working knowledge of press registration, tension control, and web-handling systems.
- Strong electrical/mechanical troubleshooting abilities.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems, AutoCAD or SolidWorks, VFD’s and PLC/automation systems a plus.
- Understanding of bindery and post-press finishing operations desirable.
- Understanding of HVAC units’ maintenance and repair.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement.
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing environment with frequent time spent on the production floor.
- May involve standing, climbing ladders, or working in tight spaces.
- May require evening or weekend work during major installations, breakdowns, or projects.
$125,000.00-135,000.00 DOE
6am-3pm
