Compounder/ Chemical Operator/Laborer

The position of Compounder is responsible for preparing and blending raw materials to create aerosol product batches according to established formulas. This role involves ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and quality of compounded materials, managing batch production processes, and adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines. The Compounder works closely with the compounding team to meet production goals while maintaining the highest standards of quality control.

Job Duties:

  • Tank and Equipment Preparation:
  • Ensure tanks are clean, including spout outlets, and equipped with the proper mixer.
  • Support production equipment changeovers and set-ups.
  • Accurately weigh, measure, and mix raw materials according to batch specifications.
  • Follow SOPs and formulas to prepare batches, ensuring material quality and proper mixing.
  • Check and record tare weight, tank ID, and accurately weigh and record all chemicals and ingredients per batch instructions.
  • Ensure materials are of the correct quality and thoroughly mixed to meet product requirements.
  • Operate and control the blending machine to mix ingredients according to batch instructions, ensuring quality throughout the process.
  • Operate and maintain batch-making equipment, ensuring calibration and proper functioning.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or process issues and report to supervisors as necessary.

Additional Job Duties:

  • Return all empty containers with attached bungs to the chemical warehouse after batch completion.
  • Ensure partial packages and containers are correctly labeled with net weights and SAP codes before returning to the warehouse.
  • Verify raw material availability and ensure correct quantities before starting production.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and labeling of materials to avoid contamination or mix-ups.
  • Assist with inventory control and material replenishment.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or compounding environment, preferably in aerosol, chemical, or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Ability to use pumps, filtration products, piping, connect hose connections to holding tanks and pump or manually transfer ingredients to the production lines.
  • Accurately complete documentation as required.
  • Ability to read and interpret machine manuals, blueprints, and SOPs.
  • Must be able to continuously learn to operate all compounding equipment.
  • Must continue to acquire the necessary knowledge needed for batching all formulas.
  • Will lift and handle various cans, components, etc. up to 50 pounds.
  • Maintains a tidy, clean, and safe work area at all times.
  • Must possess and demonstrate mechanical aptitude. Strong knowledge of compounding processes and equipment operation.
  • Basic understanding of chemical properties and safety procedures.
  • Strong focus on quality control and the ability to identify issues in machinery and final products.
  • Ability to make quick decisions and troubleshoot in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills for tracking data and reporting.
  • Ability to follow precise instructions and maintain quality standards.
  • Basic understanding of chemical properties and safety procedures.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Perform math computations based on manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work different shifts, including weekends, overtime, and rotating schedules.
  • Continuously learn to operate all compounding equipment and batching formulas.
