Warehouse Processor/ Batchmaker

Responsibilities:

  • Possesses working knowledge of all applicable good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs); and microbiological control, quality assurance and sanitization procedures.
  • Prevents contamination of product by maintaining a high level of personal hygiene and through appropriate use of head coverings and gloves.
  • Assumes responsibility for GMP and safety compliance of assigned work area by continually maintaining clean, sanitary and organized work areas that satisfies GMPs and safety requirements at all times.
  • Evaluates work area, equipment and processes making improvements or recommendations to Processing Leadership. Demonstrates initiative to continuously improve area of responsibility.
  • Accurately completes required documentation consistent with GMP and procedural requirements.
  • Works safely by understanding and performing all duties in accordance with applicable safety procedures including Accident Reporting, Personal Protective Equipment, Safe Lifting, Safety Knife, Confined Space Entry, Lockout/Tagout, Forklift Safety, Machine Guarding, Safety Rules, and Emergency Response and Evacuation
  • Successfully completes required Fork Lift and Hearing Conservation physical assessments as required. Respirator physical exam required.
  • Ensures that equipment is sanitized and stored to prevent microbiological contamination acquires ability to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas that may exist where duties may include:

HOOK-UP

  • At the Packaging Unit’s request, delivers material to that department in a timely manner using basic mechanical and manual methods to maintain quality and proper fill levels during the production run.
  • Communicates effectively with the Packaging Department in a considerate manner, via appropriate equipment.
  • Anticipates needs of Packaging Units and pre-stages equipment, supplies, and inventory to provide a high level of response and service.
  • Cleans and sanitizes storage tanks, storage cans, tote bins, horns, boots, hoses, and other equipment in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Performs basic maintenance, and monitors and operates the sanitizer distribution system and the various CIP systems.
  • Takes and reports daily physicals of FI Inventories.
  • Takes samples of finished ingredients to the FI Lab for updates as required.
  • Evaluates, measures, locates, and records finished ingredient returns from Packaging Units in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Reviews Packaging Dispatch daily and updates FI in storage in advance of need by Packaging Unit.
  • Reviews processing schedule daily, samples finished ingredient rework, obtains rework paperwork from the FI Lab, and delivers rework to the processing work area.
  • Locates miscellaneous supplies as needed.

RAW INGREDIENT CLERK

  • Follows guidelines for the handling of hazardous ingredients.
  • Prepares raw and processed ingredient shipping authorizations or destruction as required.
  • Conducts scheduled physical inventory cycle counts and makes adjustments to reconcile discrepancies.
  • Initiates updates of any expired raw ingredients.
  • Transacts and accurately stores raw ingredient receipts.
  • Orders and returns raw ingredients from warehouse as needed. Accurately applies approval stickers, and delivers raw ingredients to Processors.
  • Maintains inventory of Processing consumable supplies and initiates purchases for supplies needed in a timely manner to prevent stockouts.
  • Maintains Hot Room raw ingredient inventories.
  • Determines High Cost RI needs and accurately weighs and transacts as required.
  • Maintains purity of raw ingredients by maintaining housekeeping and GMPs at all items.
  • Unloads liquid RIs for tanker truck and submits sample to Lab for approval to use
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment using approved materials and applicable procedures.
  • Locates, identifies and weighs out exact quantities of raw ingredients and loads them into the equipment
  • Processes the batch and documents progress as specified in the batch worksheet;
  • Takes required samples of the finished batch to the Quality Assurance Lab
  • Transfers the batch from mixing vessels to the correct type of storage vessel as required, using proper procedures.
  • Processes up to two batches simultaneously
  • Assumes total responsibility for all aspects of batch including quality, productivity, documentation, and GMPs of Work Area.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed Utility B Processor training and at least 6 months of work experience in clerk or hook-up with acceptable productivity, quality, documentation accuracy, housekeeping, and safety.
  • Must be able to communicate well. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must have clear, legible handwriting, must have good mathematical skills and able to accurately weigh and measure ingredients. English and math skills are subject to testing for qualification.
  • High School or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Must acquire necessary computer skills.
  • Must acquire working knowledge of applicable GMPs and procedures.
  • Must be able to work independently in the various areas. Able to follow up and investigate inventory discrepancies.
  • Must have or acquire ability/license to operate powered lift trucks

Responsibility:

  • Requires accuracy in correct product delivery.
  • Total responsibility for adherence to procedures, batch quality and equipment upkeep; requires a logical thought process and good follow through; must use common sense concerning product quality.
  • Must be able to achieve minimum productivity KPIs.
  • Must be able to work independently; must document activities to a high degree of accuracy.
  • Service dependent on effective inventory management.
  • Responsible for training.

Reasoning/Problem Solving Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out more complex instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with more complex problems involving some abstract thinking, though may require supervision. Requires little direction when solving simple problems

Language Skills:

  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals without supervisor explanation.

Quantitative Skills:

  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must obtain a minimum Wonderlic score of 2 in math and 2 in Verbal
  • Must be able to work extended hours with minimum notice. Must be able to work extended shifts, weekends and holidays, and capable of going to different shifts as production needs require.
  • Must work well with others and take directions well.
  • Acceptable performance in this job accomplishing the training and work experience requirements established for this position fulfills the prerequisite for eligibility to the Processor position.

25.50/hr (includes .50 shift differential)
