Assistant Supervisor

We are seeking an Assistant supervisor to join our client on a recycle plant in Kansas City, Ks
Assistant supervisor is responsible for sorting product on a moving conveyor, overseeing a crew of 18 sorters, and monitoring machinery to avoid jams.
A particular emphasis of the role is to facilitate a team culture across all functional and cross functional disciplines for the specific line. Through both formal and informal continuous improvement opportunities, implement and refine improvement ideas to maximize the performance of the line.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

*Leadership and Allocation of process line crew: Responsible for the lead and allocation of process line crew to maintain highest level of efficiency.

* Reinforces positive team efforts and embraces Continuous Improvement concepts to ensure workers understand that their work activities are part of a whole and have an impact on the operation and common goals.

* Motivates the generation of ideas and initiates by discussing them on multi-disciplinary teams.

* Defines initiatives and operations goals with input from other plant personnel to improve overall performance.

* Develops technical specialized skills and knowledge, as well as team work, continuous improvement and discipline strengths.

* Develops multidisciplinary knowledge and skills, and awareness of customer oriented common goals and achievements.
*Help compliance with established safety training and ensure compliance with all company policies, plant rules and all regulatory agencies including fire code compliance and OSHA operating practices

* Ensure correct use of safety equipment (PPE) on the crew, and that company safety policies are followed

* Works with shift Supervisor to have consistency on their shift.

* Assists in developing personnel

* Defines plant production expectations

* Act as a change agent (leader) to instill a Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement culture on the plant and in related areas of the company

* Ensure through audits that tools are appropriately and effectively used

* Serve as a business change agent leading process improvement initiatives, process redesign activities/projects which will enable the organization to reach the next level of world class operations by implementing continuous improvement-lean production practices throughout the plant

SCOPE AND IMPACT

The Assistant supervisor is responsible for maintaining and improving production goals consistent with corporate goals. It sets goals to make sure the plant performs at a high level, with the long-term in focus. Position communicates with Mechanical departments about line issues and assists Supervisor on attaining goals.

Position Requirements:

* Minimum requirement of High School Degree or equivalent.

* Minimum requirement of 1 year experience supervising/leading people and processes in a production plant environment, preferably Recycle production

* Strategic thinker, with clear vision and direction of change management

* Strong facilitation and interpersonal communication

* Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills

* Proven ability to coach, mentor, and energize team members

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to Supervisor.

Work Environment

Working conditions will be inside and outside where temperatures will vary from extreme heat to extreme cold, working in rain or snow, all for extended periods. . Working in or near the plant will result in being near moving mechanical parts and/or fumes or airborne particles. Noise level in the plant is moderate and occasionally loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position frequently requires the employee to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk/hear. Also this position requires the employee to stand for extended periods of time



1st Shift 7;00 AM -3:30 PM
2nd Shift: 3:30 PM - 12:00PM

$15.00 /Hr. (Temp to Hire)
