Team Lead


The Team Leader guides a production team that performs repetitive line assembly operations to mass-produce wire and cable products.  This is accomplished by performing the following duties:

Job Duties:

•                   Responsible to properly train and lead all team members.  Training and leadership will take precedence over all personal production efforts.

•                   Responsible to ensure that team members are as productive as possible while maintaining the necessary quality standards.

•                   Responsible for schedule attainment through the use of the dispatch list.  Informing Supervisors when you are unable to meet the schedule expectations and why.

•                   Responsible to ensure that team members are operating within the parameters of the online procedures manual.

•                   Responsible to perform and document first article inspections for team members.  Conduct and document last piece and hourly piece inspections as necessary.

•                   Responsible to ensure that all team members are filling out all required paperwork completely, accurately and legibly.

•                   Responsible for organizing jobs in the assigned cell in such a manner that they may be easily located using the dispatch list.

•                   Responsible to ensure the general maintenance of any machines in the assigned cell is being completed in a timely manor.  Team Leaders will need to be able to support these machines and perform minor repairs to ensure uninterrupted production.

•                   Responsible for various aspects of the assigned assembly process while maintaining the necessary quality and production standards.  These processes shall include, but not limited to, cutting and prepping cable and wire, plugging, backshell assembly, applying heat shrink, soldering, tinning, labeling and tyrap application.

•                   Responsible to set up and repair application equipment in the assigned cell and to maintain sufficient stock of repair parts to ensure uninterrupted production.

•                   Responsible to check the crimp heights and take pull tests at required intervals and record the results legibly.

•                   Responsible for organizing and maintaining test fixture inventory storage areas.

•                   Must attend periodic corrective/preventative action meetings, assist team members in developing action items, and help develop and initiate effective corrective/preventative action plans for rework occurrences within the team.

•                   Must be able to work overtime as necessary.

•                   Must adhere to all safety rules and standards.  Team Leaders are responsible for reporting any workplace injury to the Quality / Safety Manager or Production Manager.


Oversees assembly workers assigned to the cell.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, develop a positive attitude in team members, work with other team leaders and resolve problems.

High school education; or six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  The Team Leader must be able to read blueprints and have a solid understanding of soldering.  Team Leaders must possess an excellent attendance record.  Must be able to use a personal computer.


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to read measuring equipment.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions; work with various variables with the assistance of the engineering staff.
