Technical Customer Service

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to Technical assistance phone line and Internet installation inquiries; thus, providing various customer groups with assistance to the installation, fit and function of all aftermarket product lines.  Also, assist with application coverage, product selection and part number interchange.  Identify product design, quality control, manufacturing and marketing issues.
  • Provide installation, application, interchange, and product line recommendations and assistance via phone lines and Internet web sites.
  • Provide customer concern reports to quality control, manufacturing, engineering and marketing
  • Assist in updating / maintaining current databases.
  • Assist in identification and correction of catalog errors.
  • Generate technical installation tip articles.
  • Support Marketing, Sales and Warranty by providing application coverage reports.
  • Provide non-current, older and newer application assistance.
  • Chair monthly “Issue resolution” meetings.
  • Respond to customer letters.

 Required Skills:

  • Must be capable of diagnosing advance mechanical, design manufacturing, installation and quality related issues while quickly and accurately determining corrections to these issues.
  • Ability to use digital and dial measurement equipment such as calipers and micrometers.  Must be knowledgeable with English and Metric measurement systems and understand how to convert from one to the other.
  • Must be able to absorb and organize large amounts of information. 
  • Should have a strong working knowledge of the current and past automotive base.
  • Must be able to communicate in written and oral format in a very efficient yet clear manner. 
  • Must be capable of working as a team to obtain departmental goals.
  • Must accurately and politely represent our company.
  • Self motivated, results oriented individual.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.  Occasional travel is required.
  • Should have a good working P.C. knowledge and familiar with Word Processing, Database, and Spread Sheet Software.
  • Should be familiar with standard drafting and design skills and CAD drawing. 
  • Must speak English proficiently.  Bilingual (Spanish/French) skills are a plus.

Required Experience:

  • Two Year Technical Degree.  Automotive mechanic or counter person experience a plus.
  • Two years previous customer service/communication experience preferred.
