Job Description

Utility Technician

This position is responsible for production and compliance assigned duties.  This includes but is  not limited to batch and process manufacturing, compliance responsibilities, inventory control,  bulk material handling, and packaging. 

Job Duties:

• Works with Production Supervisors, Process Technicians, other Utility, and the Corporate Compliance Manager in the safe handling of the equipment

• Ascertain proper and sufficient verbal and written to execute daily and long term goals;

• Understand and demonstrate compliance

• Inventory Control through cycle counts, batch log & MUS record keeping, and filling or transferring documentation; 

• Management of Waste Water including: monitor and reporting of tank volumes, compliant  and effective loading of the outbound water trailers, sampling tanks and trailers,  neutralization when necessary, and weight tickets for outbound trailers. 

• Management of Storm Water including: Monitor and reporting of storm water in containment areas and reporting to Corporate Compliance Manager, Sampling Storm Water  and logging samples into laboratory, compliant and effective discharge of the Storm Water,  and completing the cycle of required documentation including the Storm Water checklist back to Corporate Compliance Manager. 

• Executes tasks and project responsibilities as outlined and assigned from the compliance &  PM calendars, production worklist, and expected delivery report. 

• Housekeeping Specific assigned duties for: Tank Farm floors, trash cans around plant, warehouse floors, and around vacuum pumps

• Maintain hazardous waste satellite and accumulations areas such that they are compliant  with all regulations, including monitoring containment pallets

• Assists in management and development of processes and safety programs;

• Participate in process improvements and upgrades manufacturing instructions; • Participates in all environmental and safety training as required

• Compliance and follow through from job trainings

• Suggests improvements for safety and compliance;  

• Promptly reports any safety incidents and participates in incident investigations as  requested; 

• Additional duties may be added or removed

Placement Criteria 

• Minimum education and practical work experience: high school diploma and 2-5 years’ minimum experience in the chemical manufacturing field or in a related area, or a suitable  combination of education and relevant experience; 

• knowledge within the chemical manufacturing industry polymer industry or other liquid chemical processing preferred

• Preferred previous or current Class A license, or ability to acquire, but not mandatory.

• Ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing,  and to provide exceptional service internally and externally; 

• Demonstrated ability to problem solve and execute job related tasks and project  responsibilities semi-independently

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit and talk  and hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach  with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend and reach, and  may ride in a motor vehicle.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and  occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.   

2nd shift: 3pm-11pm
3rd shift: 11pm-7am 
$14.00-15.00
